In a discussion panel held as part of the Cities Studio, presented by Gazeta Wyborcza daily in Sandomierz, the producer Krzysztof Grabowski announced plans to open a permanent Father Matthew-themed exhibit in the town.

When tourists think of Sandomierz, they often think of Ojciec Mateusz (Father Matthew), which has been filmed there since 2008.

‘The idea of setting up a museum has been with us for many years. Visitors to Sandomierz follow in the footsteps of Ojciec Mateusz, looking for the presbytery, the police station, the church, but they draw a blank. We’ve decided to help them’, says Krzysztof Grabowski.

The initial plans to create a museum or a gallery were dropped in favor of opening an exhibition space called The World of Father Matthew, located in the central market square across the town hall, in the former Retro restaurant. The interior will be decorated by the series set designer Jacek Mocny.

‘Visitors will be privileged to know details from the upcoming seasons of the series. They will be able to find out about the characters and themes that will appear in new episodes’, says the producer.

The World of Father Matthew is set to open in July.
