Filming for the new season of “The Ranch” started on August 16, 2011, in Jeruzal. The new series will be set in the village of Wilkowyje and in downtown Warsaw, mostly in the political center of the city. Fans of the series will see their favorite characters in new roles and situations that will surprise even the characters themselves. In addition, the village will find itself in the midst of revolutionary ferment, at times erupting into riots, especially when the new order will become hard to swallow…

In the previous season’s finale the mayor was elected senator, but his entry into politics was to prove an unfortunate affair. Yet what first seems to spell disaster (and probably the shortest, one-day career in the history of Polish Senate), turns into a huge media success, with the senator becoming an Internet celebrity.

“All subsequent actions of the mayor-cum-senator and the strategies developed by Czerepach aim to turn the newly-minted politician into hot property courted by leading political parties, as the mayor has no party affiliation”, says Robert Brutter, one of the writers of “The Ranch” (the second is Jerzy Niemczuk). With his signature Machiavellism, Czerepach exploits the none-too-healthy mechanisms of Polish media and political life, pouncing on any chance coming his way”. The political scene gains a figure who, though actually lacking in intelligence, comes across as shrewd. As Czerepach put it – referring to the fictitious simpleton con artist who cheated his way into Warsaw’s political elite – the mayor is a modern-day Nikodem Dyzma.

As the mayor-cum-senator and Czerepach get more involved in the political and media scene, their wives become anxious as they believe that men who are quickly promoted trade in their old wives for new ones. To avert this danger, both resort to desperate tactics that are out of character for them.

“Continuing her mission as mayor, Lucy, aided by Więcławski, starts an unemployment relief program. Her main focus is on unemployed women as the attitude of the unemployed men to such efforts is staunchly negative. The side effect, however, is a dispute that divides the village leading to riots and a permanent picket line before the mayor’s office. A true, if a bit naive, American, Lucy believes that nobody should feel rejected and tries to come to an agreement with the protesters, which proves no easy task. But Lucy has always been very determined in her efforts”, says Robert Brutter.

The young generation, aided by the old one (Kinga and Kusy), seeks a sea change in education. The planned revolution aims to prove that school leavers coming out of the Polish education system are unproductive and unimaginative. Unfortunately, the news about the revolutionary efforts reaches central education authorities, sparking a new, even more fierce war.
These major storylines will be accompanied by many others. Solejukowa decides to graduate from high school, spurring her husband to turn States evidence and start a new life. Wioletka grows prettier as her pregnancy progresses, but convinced that the opposite is the case, she has fits of jealousy over other women (mostly Francesca). Klaudia and Duda’s love affair is a tumultuous ride, Kinga is mature enough for romance, and Francesca’s ex-fiancé, a Calabrian mafia hitman, comes to the village to take out professor Witebski.
All this and much more in the new season of “The Ranch”, which is due to air in spring 2012 on TV1.
