The Nowy Teatr, founded by Krzysztof Warlikowski and his collaborators, stages its productions at ATM Studio (ATM Grupa S.A.). In December, ATM Studio will host the Polish premiere of “African Tales by Shakespeare”.
Theatre fans in Warsaw have a new exciting venue. In November the Nowy Teatr will perform “The End” at ATM Studio. Then it will rehearse and prepare the Polish premiere of “African Tales by Shakespeare”, scheduled for December 2.
Warlikowski’s piece is informed by a wide selection of texts including three plays by William Shakespeare: “King Lear”, “The Merchant of Venice”, and “Othello”; J.M. Coetzee’s novel “Summertime”; and Wajdi Mouawad’s monologues. The ensemble cast includes Stanisława Celińska, Ewa Dałkowska, Małgorzata Hajewska-Krzysztofik, Maja Ostaszewska, Magdalena Popławska, Adam Ferency, Wojciecha Kalarus, Marek Kalita, Zygmunt Malanowicz, Piotr Polak, and Jacek Poniedziałek. In addition to Nowy Teatr productions, other projects currently in development at ATM Studio include Rochstar’s “The Voice of Poland” for TVP2 and many productions for the advertising industry including Eurobank and Kredyt Bank commercials. Next in line for the Wawer-based complex is the production of a new season of “The Ranch”.
ATM Studio is the most state-of-the-art film production center not only in Poland but in this part of Europe. The 14,000 sq.m. complex includes offices, soundstages, television studios, production and postproduction facilities, cinema room and catering facilities. The biggest, 1,500 sq.m. soundstage will be used for big television shows with a live audience and for major film productions. Four 800 sq.m. soundstages will host game shows, films and series. The complex also includes a 500 sq.m. soundstage for commercials and TV theater productions, as well as fully equipped make-up rooms.
Auxiliary facilities include storage areas for sets and equipment, and power supply transformer stations (2 megawatts each). The center’s IT and communications infrastructure enables live HD broadcasts from each stage to all television stations.
The building also houses the headquarters of two ATP Group companies: ATM System, provider of advanced technology support for television production and event management; and ATM FX, provider of special effects for film. ATM FX has just completed special effects for Jerzy Hoffman’s latest feature, “Battle of Warsaw 1920”. In addition, ATM Studio can accommodate large concerts and events. It also boasts a restaurant, bar and café.
