Comebacks, anniversaries and new shows in the fall of 2016

Hitting TV screens this fall are 13 shows from ATM Grupa S.A., including series, documentary soaps, entertainment, formats and documentaries, three of which are new productions.

The first new show is Sprawiedliwi – Wydział Kryminalny (The Just: Crime Unit) (TV4), a new series from the creators of Policjantki i policjanci (Policewomen and Policemen), which is a hit on TV4 with an average audience of 1.5 million. The series is growing its viewership by the episode and boosting the channel’s prime time ratings. This is largely due to Marek Włodarczyk, whom fans fondly remember as Superintendent Zawada in Kryminalni (Crime Detectives), who is back after a few years’ hiatus.

Two other new shows are in ATM Grupa’s fast-growing segment of non-fiction productions. Starting from 29 August, Canal+ Discovery viewers can follow the stories of Polish emigrants in the show Sukces nie zna granic (Success Without Borders), hosted by Tomasz Kin. Later in the month, TLC will launch a Polish version of Undressed, titled Undressed: randka w łóżku, which will have its participants undress and get to know each other in the bedroom.

There will also be comebacks, one of the most spectacular being Ranczo (The Ranch) (TVP 1), whose 10th season, currently running, has been confirmed by the creators as the last. Ranczo/The Ranch, a production of ATM Grupa’s subsidiary Studio A, is the most watched weekday series this fall and the most watched show on TVP1. The episode aired last Sunday drew a whopping 5 million viewers. TVP1’s second most watched series, Ojciec Mateusz (Father Matthew), has over 3.6 million viewers follow the adventures of the titular priest sleuth. One in four Poles tunes in to watch the series on Thursday evenings, making TVP1 the undisputed time slot leader.

Bartłomiej Topa has joined the second season of Druga szansa (Second Chance) (TVN), Poland’s first series about show business, starring Małgorzata Kożuchowska in the lead.

Świat według Kiepskich/The Lousy World and Pierwsza miłość/First Love continue their enduring appeal to Polsat viewers. The story about the residents of a Wrocław tenement has been running for 17 years and is set to air its 500th episode this October, making Świat według Kiepskich (The Lousy World) the world’s longest running sitcom. Polsat’s second most watched series is Pierwsza miłość (First Love), also set in Wrocław, a weekday show running since 2004. Pierwsza miłość (First Love) has the highest share in the 16–49 demographic, and tops its time slot with a 19% share.

Pielęgniarki (The Nurses) (Polsat) and 9. miesiąc (Ninth Month) (TV4) have already made their comebacks, and two new seasons of Brać czy nie brać (Take It or Leave It) (History) and Powrót do przeszłości (Back to the Past) (Canal+ Discovery) are slated to debut this October.
