Description

Hello Hans! is a historic sitcom replete with references to More Than Life at Stake, a cult series about a Polish spy in the German secret service during WWII. The bizarre and crazy adventures of Hans Klopss (Hans Kloss in the classic series), who gets mixed up in numerous romantic, political and social shenanigans, are shown on TV Polsat.

The famous agent Hans Kloss aka J-23 dies in the Eastern Front. The news about his death is brought to Nazi-occupied Poland by a Russian secret agent. She and a Soviet Intelligence resident hold an audition to replace the super-agent. The Polish Home Army seizes the opportunity and secure the job for its man – a Home Army officer who pretends to be a People’s Army officer to join the Soviet service which inserts him in Wehrmacht to infiltrate Abwehr.

This is how the story begins. Hans Kloss is a true hero who helps the underground resistance movement, the anti-Nazi coalition, the Polish government-in-exile and, most importantly, the beautiful women who come to the General Government on secret missions.
The series, however, is neither a continuation, nor a spoof of More Than Life at Stake. Hello Hans! is the first Polish historical sitcom.

The director, Wojciech Adamczyk, sees it as a postmodern mix of genres. The series combines farce, grotesque, war and romantic comedy, historical story and, at times, comic strips.
The show is the first of its kind on Polish TV. The part of Hans Klopss is played by Bartek Kasprzykowski, a rising star of Polish cinema. Other cast members include the acclaimed comic actors Tamara Arciuch, Piotr Pregowski, Cezary Zak, Artur Barcis, Grzegorz Wons, Katarzyna Galica, Dorota Chotecka, Malgorzata Socha, and Bogdan Kalus. Guest appearances include Marek Barbasiewicz, Jaroslaw Boberek, Piotr Zelt, Magda Femme, and the sitcom director himself, Wojciech Adamczyk, as a high-rank SS officer.

The sitcom was shot in Ursus in a 1500-square-meter set, the largest in the history of Polish TV. The set depicted a part of town in the General Government. It featured a cobbled street, street lamps, house fronts, a restaurant entrance, all complete with period cars and armored vehicles. The very first episode of the series saw the debut of Kubelwagen, a military version of the Volkswagen.
