Description

Fort Boyard is an adventure-style show featuring a team of five contestants of varying physical abilities. The contestants include athletes, TV and media stars, as well as people selected through auditions.

The eponymous Fort Boyard is a prison fortress, located on an islet off the west coast of France, built in the 19th century on the orders of Napoleon. The fort has become the stage for one of the most famous shows in the world. The contestants have to successfully complete a series of challenges to win five keys that open the Treasure Room, guarded by Boyard’s tigers, and work out the code word that opens the way to the main prize. The road to success is long and arduous, and the team has to complete seven tasks, solve three puzzles and perform two special tasks.

26 episodes of two seasons of Fort Boyard were filmed in July 2008 near La Rochelle. Each of them featured a team of contestants with varying abilities, headed by well-known and famous people. The show was hosted by Robert Gonera and Katarzyna Glinka, with Janusz Weiss playing the sage who sets riddles for contestants.

1,137 episodes of the show have so far been produced in 26 countries, including England, Germany, Spain, Sweden, Russia, Greece, Denmark, Argentina, the Netherlands, Canada, Belgium and Hungary, and each of the show’s international versions pulled in excellent ratings. Fort Boyard is one of the most popular TV formats in the world.
